Comments on this Consulate-General
Good afternoon, my name is Gloria Maldonado and I am interested in working at the American Consulate in Hermosillo, Sonora. This May I will be finishing my B.A. in English Language Teaching I am bilingual and also a U.S. citizen. I would like to know if you are hiring and what are the positions that are available.
Thank you for your time.
I am a US citizen. I have a home in Rocky point where I live part time due to my job in the US. I am married to a Mexican National. Recently my wife who is from Hermosillo got pulled over driving one of my cars. This car has USA registration from Arizona and has Mexican insurance for liability, collision, and comprehensive. My wife is listed on the insurance policy. The police from Hermosillo arrested my wife and impounded my car.
I paid the fine to get her out of jail 30,000 pesos today, 10/20/2015. The police are still holding my vehicle and would not release it to me, this vehicle is a 2014 Chevrolet Camaro. Approximate value $21,000 USD. I was told they will take up to 5 business days to decide how much the fine will be to release the vehicle back to me, and that the fine will be a percentage of the vehicle value, plus daily storage at their impound lot.
Is this normal for police from Hermosillo to respond this way? They would not talk to me directly, so I had to hire a lawyer to get any information. Which could be a communication language barrier.
Is there anything I can do to get my car back? So far I am trying to corporate with them, but I do want my car back.
I am a us citizen living in Sonora, mexico married to a Mexican national, can she legally drive my us registered vehicle in Mexico?
